In an exclusive interview, Sisu director Jalmari Helander has addressed the fate of the popular action franchise. Following the critical and commercial success of the sequel, Sisu: Road to Revenge, Helander discussed whether the story of the unstoppable commando Aatami will continue, offering a hopeful yet non-committal outlook on a potential third film.

The Director’s Perspective on a Sequel

Helander, who wrote and directed both the original 2022 film and the 2024 sequel, reflected on the conclusion of Road to Revenge. He described the ending, which sees the main character tearing down his home and rebuilding it elsewhere, as feeling like both “an ending and a rebirth.” This pivotal scene was crucial for Helander, as he stated it elevated the film to a “different level” and is one of the elements he is most proud of.

When directly questioned about the possibility of Sisu 3, Helander admitted he has no concrete plans but left the door open. He characterized the sequel’s conclusion as “a perfect ending,” suggesting Aatami may have found a new purpose. However, he added, “maybe trouble finds him again,” indicating the franchise could continue if a compelling narrative arises.
