What's After the Movie
Justin Jacob Long is an esteemed American actor and comedian, born on June 2, 1978. Known for his expansive work in both film and television, he has made notable appearances in popular films such as Galaxy Quest, Jeepers Creepers, Dodgeball, Accepted, Dreamland, Live Free or Die Hard, and Barbarian. He has also charmed audiences with his voiceover work as Alvin Seville in the live-action Alvin and the Chipmunks film series. His television journey includes roles as Warren Cheswick in the NBC comedy-drama series Ed and Kevin Murphy in the Netflix original animated sitcom F is for Family. Apart from acting, Long is also famous for his appearances in TV commercials, like Apple's 'Get a Mac' campaign, and Intel's 'Go PC' campaign.
He was born the second of three boys in Fairfield, Connecticut, to a philosophy and Latin professor, R. James Long, and former stage actress, Wendy Lesniak. With a 'kind of conservative' Catholic upbringing, Long had an early exposure to acting, thanks to his brother Damian, a local stage actor. He is a Vassar College alumnus, where he was a part of the sketch comedy group 'Laughingstock'. He gave life to several roles in stage plays during his time at college. His career breakthrough started with films like Idiocracy, Waiting..., Jeepers Creepers, and DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story. Long's career flourished as he delved into diverse roles, often exploring comedy, horror, and animated genres. Another remarkable achievement is his work in Apple's 'Get a Mac' campaign, where he played a personified 'Mac' in a series of commercials. In his personal life, he was in relationships notable with Drew Barrymore and later with Amanda Seyfried. His current significant other is actress Kate Bosworth, whom he referred to as his 'now-wife' in a 2023 podcast episode.
