Best Man Down 2013

In the vibrant backdrop of a Phoenix wedding celebration, Scott (Justin Long) and his new bride Kristin (Jess Weixler) remain blissfully unaware of the tragedy that looms ahead. Their joyous occasion takes a dark turn as Scott’s best man, Lumpy (Tyler Labine), spirals into a drunken stupor, determined to wreak havoc on the festivities, much to Kristin’s growing frustration. As the night progresses, Lumpy’s recklessness culminates in a tragic accident when he falls onto a cactus, resulting in his untimely death. The couple is left shattered by the news and now must navigate the painful task of arranging for his return to Minnesota for a proper burial.

Simultaneously, in the quaint town of Northern Minnesota, 15-year-old Ramsey Anderson (Addison Timlin) grapples with her turbulent family situation. With a mother ([Frances O’Connor]) struggling with addiction and a menacing stepfather ([Evan Jones]) who cooks meth, Ramsey finds herself in precarious predicaments. Life takes an alarming turn when she blackmails the local priest ([Michael Landes]) after discovering him in a compromising scenario, using the leverage to secure groceries for her family.

As circumstances at home worsen, Ramsey resorts to shoplifting cold medicine from a drugstore, only to be caught by the same priest who had previously aided her. This series of unfortunate events sets in motion a chain reaction that irrevocably changes the course of her life.

As Scott and Kristin delve deeper into Lumpy’s mysterious background, they are propelled into a convoluted journey of discovery.
