His most notable films include Scarface (1983), Ghostbusters II (1989), Clear and Present Danger (1994), Bean (1997), The Hurricane (1999) and Training Day (2001). His performance in Frasier granted him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in 1996. The inception of his career can be traced back to New York in 1963 when he made his debut in Next Time I'll Sing to You. As a theatre enthusiast, he has performed in numerous Broadway productions, including The Visit, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Price, and Hedda Gabler. He also made a memorable portrayal of Willy Loman in Death of A Salesman at the Gate Theatre in Dublin, Ireland. He earned the Lucille Lortel Award for directing The Trip to Bountiful and has been praised by film critic Jim Emerson, who humorously claimed that Yulin 'should be in every movie ever made'. Yulin's personal life includes a relationship with Faye Dunaway and two marriages.
