Dulquer Salmaan (born 28 July 1983 in Kochi, Kerala, India) is an Indian actor, singer, and producer who has become one of the most influential figures in contemporary South Indian cinema. The son of legendary Malayalam star Mammootty, Dulquer completed his schooling at Toc‑H Public School in Kochi and Sishya School in Chennai before earning a bachelor's degree in Business Management from Purdue University in the United States. After a brief stint as a business manager in Dubai, he abandoned the corporate world to pursue his passion for acting, undertaking a three‑month intensive course at Barry John Acting Studio in Mumbai. His screen debut came with Second Show (2012), followed by a breakthrough performance in Ustad Hotel the same year, which earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South and introduced him as a versatile talent capable of handling both commercial and critically‑oriented roles. Throughout the 2010s, Dulquer built a diverse filmography across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema, delivering memorable performances in Bangalore Days, Charlie (for which he won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor), O Kadhal Kanmani, and the Telugu biopic Mahanati, where his portrayal of Gemini Ganesan garnered the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor – Telugu. In addition to acting, he founded Wayfarer Films, producing successful projects such as Varane Avashyamund and Kurup, and he has lent his voice to several songs, showcasing his musical abilities. Dulquer married architect Amal Sufiya in 2011, and the couple welcomed a daughter in 2017.
