Born on November 18, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York, Brenda Buell Vaccaro is a prolific American stage, film and television actress. Boasting an illustrious career of over half a century, Vaccaro has amassed an impressive array of nominations and awards, including one Academy Award nomination, three Golden Globe Award nominations, proclaimed victorious in one, four Primetime Emmy Award nominations with a win, and three Tony Award nominations. Raised in Dallas, Texas by Italian-American parents and restaurateurs, she relocated back to New York at 17 to study acting, under the instruction of Sanford Meisner, later making her Broadway debut in the brief 1961 comedy Everybody Loves Opal, securing a Theater World Award for her role.

Vaccaro's eclectic Broadway career, including the musical How Now, Dow Jones, Cactus Flower and The Affair, earned her wide recognition. In film, Vaccaro notably co-starred with Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight in the 1969 Midnight Cowboy and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her role in Once Is Not Enough (1975) earned her an Academy Award nomination and a victorious Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. Rounding out her career are numerous television credits, nominating her for an Emmy Award thrice, and winning for The Shape of Things. Vaccaro notably provided voice work in popular animated series, played Al Pacino's sister in You Don't Know Jack (2010) and shows up in the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That...
