Using a third-party service like Streamlabs or a platform’s native tipping feature, a viewer can send any amount of money to the streamer. This form of monetization is crucial for many full-time creators, providing a direct revenue stream based on their audience’s appreciation.

The act of donation is also a key form of interaction. When a donation is sent, it typically triggers a custom subscriber alert on screen, displaying the donor’s username, the amount, and a message they have written. The streamer will almost always pause to read the message aloud and thank the donor personally. This creates a powerful feedback loop of support and acknowledgement.
