They also compile research packets — medical jargon vetted by consultants, historical costumes matched to 1910 patterns — ensuring authenticity before cameras roll.
Digital Workflow and Expansion of Duties
Final Draft remains industry standard, but coordinators increasingly juggle WriterDuet cloud links, StudioBinder breakdown exports and AI-assisted dialogue checkers. Security expectations post-Game of Thrones leaks now mandate two-factor-auth vaults and pixel-level watermarks tied to individual readers. In television, SCs sometimes double as episodic writers, earning script fees for ‘write-up’ duties. The role thus offers an inside track to the writers’ room while demanding monkish attention to detail every time the script turns a new colour.
