Film sets, particularly with their powerful lighting and diesel-powered generators, are notoriously energy-intensive. This type of incentive provides a direct financial motivation for productions to invest in and adopt more sustainable, energy-saving technologies and workflows.

How It Works

These incentives are often structured as a bonus or ‘uplift’ on top of a broader state or regional film incentive program. They can take several forms:

• Tax Credit Bonus: A state might offer an additional 1-5% on its base tax credit if the production can prove it has met certain energy-saving criteria.
