Arrival in Humboldt County

Jim, a staunch Bigfoot believer, and his skeptical girlfriend Kelly travel from Humboldt County to Six Rivers National Forest to document their own Bigfoot footage at the site of the famed Patterson–Gimlin film. They plan to film encounters and gather evidence to support Jim's belief. The journey sets up a contrast between faith and skepticism that drives the tension of the expedition.

Willow Creek Stop and Missing Woman Poster

They stop in Willow Creek, often called the Bigfoot capital, where Jim interviews locals who claim sightings. At a restaurant, they notice a missing-woman poster on the wall, a grim hint of danger lurking nearby. The encounter with the poster foreshadows the darker events to come.

Warning from a Stranger

A local man approaches them at the edge of town, angrily insisting they should leave the area. Jim and Kelly brush him off, choosing to ignore the warning and press deeper into the forest. The moment plants a seed of unease about who or what might be watching them.

Searching for the Film Location

The couple enters the Six Rivers National Forest in search of the Patterson–Gimlin filming location, hoping to capture their own footage. Jim remains focused on recording, while Kelly remains skeptical about the supernatural claims. Their quest pushes them deeper into remote, quiet woods.

Camping Setup and a Swim

During the night, mysterious sounds echo through the trees and whooping vocalizations ripple in the darkness. Large creatures move around the campsite, pressing against the tent and investigating their shelter. They also hear the distant cries of a woman, amplifying fear and prompting thoughts of escape at dawn.

At dawn they attempt to return home, but the forest presents a labyrinthine challenge as they wander in circles for hours. Jim discovers a clump of gray fur, a grisly clue that confirms something dangerous stalks them. The morning's slow, disoriented trek compounds the sense of dread.

Night Confrontation and Abduction

Later that night, the missing Willow Creek woman reappears in the woods—naked and vulnerable. An unseen creature attacks them, kills Jim, and abducts Kelly, whose cries echo through the trees. The sequence delivers the film's brutal turn, leaving Kelly's fate uncertain and the predator still at large.

Aftermath: Jim’s Death and Kelly Missing

With Jim dead and Kelly missing, the forest returns to a haunting silence. The expedition ends in tragedy as the unknown creature remains unseen and elusive. The survivors' absence and the continuing mystery heighten the sense of danger that lingers in the woods.
