Willow Creek 2014

Jim, Bryce Johnson, a stout believer in Bigfoot, and his girlfriend Kelly, Alexie Gilmore, a skeptic, journey to Six Rivers National Forest in Northern California to capture their own Bigfoot footage at the famed site of the Patterson–Gimlin film.

On their way, they pause in Willow Creek, often dubbed the Bigfoot capital of the world, where Jim talks to locals about sightings and legends. The town’s chatter is a mix of fervent believers and wary skeptics, and a poster about a missing woman catches their attention, hinting at danger beyond the thrill of folklore. The couple presses on toward the forest, drawn by the promise of a definitive sighting and the chance to finally prove what many doubt.

Deep in the woods, they set up camp in a secluded clearing, far from the comforts of civilization. They begin the day with a swim in a cold, clear pool and return to their campsite to find it in disarray—the gear scattered, footprints pressed into the damp earth, and an uneasy sense that they’re not alone. The disruption unsettles them, and an undercurrent of unease settles in as the forest seems to loom closer than before.

That night, the quiet is broken by strange, ear-shattering sounds—rumbling echoes, distant howls, and whooping vocalizations that ripple through the trees. Inside the tent, the couple hears heavy movements outside, and something slams against the fabric, bending it with a force that suggests a presence far larger than any animal. The fear escalates, and by dawn they decide to leave the site rather than confront whatever is stalking them.

The morning brings an unsettling mystery: a clump of gray fur found near the camp. They wander through the thick, tangled woods, following faint tracks and the recurring, eerie noises that echo from the treeline. The sense of being watched grows stronger as the forest closes in around them, creating a loop of fear and confusion.

During the night, the duo encounters the missing-woman from Willow Creek, appearing in the woods in a state of distress and naked. An unseen creature closes in, attacking them with brutal efficiency. Jim is killed in the struggle, and Kelly is abducted, her desperate cries fading into the distance as the forest swallows the sound. The film closes on the haunting echo of three more whooping vocalizations, leaving the fate of Kelly and the mystery of what lies in the woods unresolved.
