Fearing for Savage’s sanity, Hussein flees to warn Sarah Wilson, [Helena Michell], but Thuggee moles inside the Company intercept him and capture him before he can warn her. As Savage’s secret comes to light, the Thuggees reveal their willingness to accept him as one of their own; yet he is ordered to kill Hussein. Instead, he uses a Thuggee child as a hostage to force an escape, but Hussein is shot dead in the ensuing confrontation.
