Chen Kun stars as Qin Ming, a half-human, half-demon officer of the Yinyang Bureau who was tasked with guarding demon souls and a powerful artifact known as the Scale Stone. After being framed for the death of his senior, William Chan as Ci Mu, and his guard team, Qin Ming flees to live a nomadic life between the human and demon realms.
Seven years later, as the threat of the demon king’s return looms, Qin Ming becomes entangled in the robbery of Imperial tributes transported by Qu Chuxiao as Yuan Boya. He is simultaneously pursued by Zhou Xun as Bai Ni, the head of the Yinyang Bureau. After escaping a demon world fighting arena alongside an injured Bai Ni and Boya, it is revealed that Qin Ming has been secretly training a team of demons to prepare for the coming darkness.
Though Bai Ni eventually recovers the Scale Stone from one of Qin Ming’s demons, she is ambushed by the treacherous Ci Mu and his familiar, Wang Zixuan as the Snow Girl. Driven by a lifelong obsession with monster power, Ci Mu steals the artifact to transform himself into a formidable demon and launch a full-scale invasion of the human world.
While Boya and the demon team defend the bridge connecting the two worlds, Qin Ming is initially defeated. In a desperate bid to stop the onslaught, he strikes a dangerous bargain with the Demon King to acquire the strength necessary to defeat Ci Mu. After securing victory, Qin Ming releases his bonds with Bai Ni, Boya, and his companions, choosing to return to the demon world alone while they remain safely in the human realm.
