The mysterious and adventurous world of The Bureau of Antiquities unfolds as a secret government organization dedicated to protecting the world from dangerous historical artifacts. At the heart of the story is Captain Will Charity, an audacious and resourceful agent known for his daring nature. Throughout the film, we follow his intense pursuit of Otto Luger, a wealthy and ambitious antagonist who discovers the legendary Midas box, an ancient artifact said to have the power to turn anything placed inside it into pure gold. This powerful object has been lost in time, and Luger’s quest to harness its transformative abilities sets off a thrilling chain of events.

As Luger manages to locate a map leading to the Midas box, he betrays and silences his own henchmen, revealing his ruthless determination. In a dramatic confrontation, Charity intervenes just as Luger’s dynamite detonates, and although both men narrowly escape the explosion, Charity manages to palm a luminous lapis amulet from Luger’s possession before the blast seals him off. This amulet becomes a central element of the story, symbolizing a protective yet mysterious link to the artifact.

Later, Charity makes a startling appearance at the British Museum, where he collapses from what appears to be a concealed knife wound. Before vanishing into the shadows, he entrusts the two halves of the amulet to Charles Mundi, his old friend, warning him to keep the dangerous relic out of the wrong hands amidst a cryptic saying: “Faithfulness will be your shield, though a thousand may fall and hide, but no evil shall ever come near you with gold at your side.” With these words, Charity disappears unexpectedly, leaving Charles and his wife, Catherine, to ponder the mysterious significance of the amulet.

Soon after, Charles and Catherine are kidnapped by Luger, setting off a frantic chase. Their children, Mariah and Felix, suspect trouble and escape onto the streets. Recognizing that Catherine handed down the amulet to her sons, Luger’s agents pursue the boys relentlessly. Felix is captured along with his portion of the amulet, but Charity comes to Mariah’s aid, rescuing her from danger. Determined to recover the missing relics and locate the Midas box, Charity sends Mariah undercover as a porter at the Prince Regent Hotel, a key location controlled by Luger, who owns the establishment.

On Prince Regent Island, Mariah encounters a disturbing scene: all children under twelve have vanished, supposedly “snatched by a beast.” Inside the hotel, she befriends Sacha, an Irish maid with her own troubled backstory. Together, they discover an ancient catacomb beneath the hotel’s foundation, where they uncover the skeletal remains of Charles Pinworth, the original owner, murdered by Otto Luger. This discovery amplifies the danger, and Sacha leaves the investigation in distress.

The duo later meets Great Bismillah, a charismatic Transylvanian illusionist whose astonishing show draws the suspicion of Luger’s men. As they uncover Luger’s secret operations, they find a journal revealing a terrifying truth: the Midas box isn’t merely a device for creating gold; it’s a weapon with the power over life and death. When Monica Black, Luger’s suspicious henchwoman, captures Mariah and discovers her half of the amulet, she gleefully deduces the identity of Charity, only to be knocked unconscious by Bismillah, who is revealed to be none other than Will Charity in disguise.

The story intensifies as Mariah ventures into the perilous forest, confronting the myth of a beast only to discover that it’s a drilling machine, and the ghostly figures are enslaved children digging for the Midas box. Upon finding the entrance to the underground mine, Mariah and Felix locate the real hiding place of the box, with Felix’s fragment of the amulet glowing ominously, guiding them. A tense confrontation ensues when Luger’s men, with Sacha held hostage, try to force the brothers to retrieve the artifact. In the chaos, Felix is trapped in a flooding chamber, but a heroic sacrifice by Sacha’s father helps save others and pushes the story toward its climax.

Luger’s relentless pursuit culminates on a perilous race with Charity and Mariah, who now understand that the Midas box is much more than a gold-making device. It is a weapon of unimaginable power, capable of destruction. To stop Luger, Mariah dons a suit of ceremonial gold armor from Luger’s collection and, wielding the Midas box, begins a fierce battle atop a drilling machine heading towards a precipice. With the help of Charity, he fights Luger and manages to activate the box, causing Luger’s plans to disintegrate along with him.

Before dying, Luger reveals a shocking secret: Mariah’s parents are still alive—a revelation that sparks hope and further mystery. Felix is rescued from the final flood, and the children are awarded medals of valor by the Bureau of Antiquities, with the promise that they might again work alongside the secret organization. Mariah and Sacha confess their growing feelings and decide to stay together, forging a new chapter amid the lingering shadows of their adventure.

Meanwhile, Charity departs to continue searching for Mariah and Felix’s missing parents but leaves a promise to return. As the film hints at new dangers, a mid-credits scene reveals a shocking twist: Catherine, their mother, has been taken to Egypt by Gormenberg, who is unexpectedly revealed to be Charles, gloating over his elaborate plans for the future — setting the stage for even greater mysteries yet to come.
