In ancient Egypt, Tutankhamun is favored by the sun god Ra to protect the people from the demon Set. With Ra's blessing, he defeats Set and keeps the demon under control. To seal the power, he breaks an emerald tablet into four pieces and sends them to distant corners of the world.

Tradeoff of power: Tutankhamun remains in the Underworld

The act of severing the tablet's power requires Tutankhamun to stay bound to the Underworld to guard against Set. The four pieces are scattered across distant corners of the world to keep the demon Set in check. This eternal vigil keeps the balance but seals his fate to the shadows.

1922: Fremont begins search for the final tablet piece

Archaeologist Danny Fremont embarks on a quest to locate the last piece of the emerald tablet, believed to lie in Tutankhamun's tomb. He has already recovered the first three pieces, but his rival Morgan Sinclair stands in his way. The stakes are high as the last piece promises control over the tablet's power.

Sinclair seizes Fremont's pieces

Morgan Sinclair, acting for the Hellfire Council, interrupts Fremont and confiscates the three pieces Fremont had recovered. The loss derails Fremont's pursuit and strengthens Sinclair's grip on the tablet's power. The underworld of influence and manipulation begins to shape the hunt.

Hellfire Council damages Fremont's reputation

Sinclair uses the Council's influence to tarnish Fremont's reputation and derail his career. The smear campaign isolates him and makes it harder to recruit allies. Yet Fremont's resolve remains unshaken as he presses on.

Barakat joins the quest

Undeterred, Fremont persuades Azelia Barakat, a skeptical Egyptologist, to join the pursuit. Together with a small band of allies, they begin to trace the tomb and recover the tablet's final piece. Their bond strengthens as danger grows.

The last piece remains with Sinclair

Despite their efforts, the final piece remains out of reach and is again in Sinclair's hands. The quartet of pieces is almost complete, and the tomb's opening seems imminent. The race to Tutankhamun's tomb heats up as a fractured alliance fights for control.

Sinclair completes the tablet and unleashes Set

Sinclair assembles all four tablet pieces inside Tutankhamun's tomb, absorbs its powers, and unleashes Set along with the demon army. He also eliminates the Hellfire Council members to consolidate his control. The world now faces a waking threat from the Underworld itself.

Portal to the Underworld opens

Fremont and his allies reach Tutankhamun's tomb, where they open a portal to the Underworld. Their goal is to rescue Tutankhamun and thwart Sinclair's plan, even as danger swells from Set's release. The stakes shift from exploration to survival.

Inside the Underworld, the boy pharaoh is too frail to assist Fremont and Barakat. They must rely on others to guide the way while the struggle with Set begins to turn the tide. The team realizes Tutankhamun's strength will come later.

Barakat pleads to Ra; Tutankhamun is empowered

A desperate Barakat prays to Ra for strength, and her wish is granted. The boy pharaoh receives renewed power to battle Set. This blessing turns the tide in the Underworld's fiery arena.

Tutankhamun destroys Set and rescues the survivors

With Ra's power, Tutankhamun battles Set, destroys the demon, and ensures Fremont and Barakat survive the ordeal. He leads them back toward the exit as the Underworld's portals close behind them. The living world breathes again as order begins to return.

Cairo reveals the restored reality

Back on Cairo's streets, Fremont and Barakat discover that the earlier disasters are reversed: their fallen companions live again and Barakat's fiancé has a family. Fremont gives Howard Carter the map to Tutankhamun's tomb, setting the stage for a historic discovery. The world begins to notice a new sense of balance.
