Abby Flores, a socially awkward high school senior, has been nurturing a crush on her classmate, Max. When she finds out that Max has recently broken up with his long-time girlfriend, Mercedes, Abby seizes the moment to pursue him. However, she learns that Max has an unusual interest in the 69 sex position, which makes Abby self-conscious about her own limited sexual experience. In an attempt to catch up, she visits the local strip club, Diamond Dolls, where she encounters a striking stripper named Santa Monica. Unfortunately, Abby is swiftly kicked out for being underage.

Within Diamond Dolls, Santa Monica views the club as a second home, where she and her fellow dancers rely on club owner Betty, who offers them maternal support. However, things take a turn when Betty reveals that Diamond Dolls is facing closure due to an outstanding debt of $20,000. Driven by determination, Santa Monica vows to find a way to settle the debts and hopes to become a co-owner alongside Betty.

With her parents away for a week, Abby takes a significant step and hires Santa Monica to come to her home for private dance lessons. During her visit, Abby proposes that Santa Monica act as her sexual “coach,” promising to pay her the aforementioned $20,000 with income from her live gaming streams. The two develop a unique partnership; Santa Monica begins teaching Abby the essentials, such as walking in high heels, sex education, and ways to boost her self-confidence. However, as Santa Monica digs deeper, she uncovers that rival club owner Rick Richards is the one to whom Betty owes the money, which puts the club’s future on the line.

As they spend more time together, Abby and Santa Monica’s bond strengthens. Abby experiments with self-discovery by purchasing a vibrator with Santa Monica’s guidance and receiving lessons in dancing from the club’s performers. In exchange, Abby helps Santa Monica prepare for her high school reunion, a daunting event for Santa Monica due to feelings of inadequacy concerning her job and jealousy towards a former classmate named Robin.

Still, as Abby immerses herself in her new friendship with Santa Monica, she increasingly neglects her streaming obligations, jeopardizing her ability to accumulate the promised $20,000. When the deadline looms, Abby is disheartened to inform Santa Monica of her inability to pay; this leads to a conflict that strains their friendship.

When Max cancels a planned house party, Abby seizes the opportunity and offers her place for the gathering. In a surprising moment, Abby finds herself alone in her bedroom with Max, who admits he actually likes her and follows her streams. As they talk, Abby realizes she is not prepared for intimacy, especially not for the 69 position. To her astonishment, Max confesses that the rumors about his obsession are entirely untrue; he is still a virgin, influenced by his ex-girlfriend’s strict religious beliefs.

Meanwhile, Santa Monica attends her reunion and decides to come clean to Robin about her profession. Santa Monica makes her way to Abby’s house to apologize, only to learn from Max that Abby and a few guests over 18 have taken the party to Diamond Dolls. At the club, Abby performs an awkward striptease, channeling Tom Cruise’s iconic character from Risky Business. With the aid of donations from classmates, club visitors, and her live streaming audience, Abby works towards raising the remaining funds to save Diamond Dolls. Despite her efforts, they fall short by $4,300 until Robin steps in to cover the balance, a gesture of support since her husband frequents the club, which drives a furious Rick Richards out.

Finally, after a heartfelt moment, Abby and Santa Monica reconcile, and a tender first kiss occurs between Abby and Max. The following morning, as Abby and Santa Monica share a conversation in her backyard, Abby’s parents unexpectedly return home and demand an explanation for the chaos left behind from the party. Abby simply states that she has made a new friend, leaving the experience of growth and newfound connections echoing in the air.
