During World War II, German SS officers stumble upon ancient ruins that cradle stone gargoyles, and they try to awaken their power by pouring blood over the statues to fight the advancing Allied forces. The plan backfires in brutal fashion: the gargoyles turn on their masters, slaughter the Nazis, and then descend upon nearby French villages, leaving a trail of terror in their wake.
