Rumors of rebellion swirl as nations mobilize on Fire’s borders, and the Feudal Lord of the Land of Fire charges Tsunade with uncovering the real culprit to prove Konoha’s innocence; failure could mean the village’s destruction in the name of world peace. Hiruko, a missing-nin and former ally of the Legendary Sannin, hides in Mount Shumi with his followers Ichi, Ni & San. He unveils a chilling plan to seize the Kekkei Genkai of the Land of Fire by projecting himself into the skies above Konoha and using a solar eclipse to power a Chimera Technique, aiming to become immortal and invincible and, with it, to conquest the world. The eclipse draws nearer, and the clock ticks on a fast-approaching catastrophe.

Kakashi Hatake, Kazuhiko Inoue, becomes a target when Hiruko activates a Puppet Curse laid on him more than a decade ago. He begs Tsunade to permit him to confront Hiruko, then deserts the village under the curse’s influence. Naruto Uzumaki, Junko Takeuchi and Sakura Haruno, Chie Nakamura rally to bring their teacher back, with Team 8, Team 10 and Team Guy dispatched to assist in the mission. Naruto, Sakura, and Sai, Satoshi Hino, press on to track Kakashi and Hiruko, overcoming Hiruko’s subordinates as they close in.

The trio reaches a temple where Hiruko awaits, and the eclipse accelerates the absorption. Kakashi’s Mangekyō Sharingan activates, and the space within Hiruko’s chimera begins to distort. Naruto dives into the slime with Rasengan to break Kakashi free, pulling him out just as the surrounding area caves in. Hiruko, however, remains alive, unleashing a surge of chakra that reduces the nearby landscape to rubble and summons a chimera beast. Teamwork from the combined squads presses the fight as Naruto and Kakashi confront Hiruko, who deftly swallows their Raikiri and Rasengan. In a final, dramatic strike, Naruto unleashes Futon: Rasenshuriken, a wind-release technique Hiruko cannot absorb, and dies from his injuries.
