Indian-born Manmohan Malhotra [Rishi Kapoor] relocated to London to build a life and, in the process, marries Bebo [Nina Wadia]. After four years he finally secures a visa for her so she can live with him, and soon after, she gives birth to Jasmeet. Manmohan is constantly embarrassed by Bebo’s limited English, which makes socializing with Britons awkward, and he often leaves her out of important gatherings. He tends to keep her at arm’s length while he socializes, a habit that weighs on Bebo and quietly shapes Jasmeet’s experiences from the start.

To shield her from feeling like a perpetual outsider, Bebo ensures Jasmeet is educated in an English school and encouraged to mingle with British friends. Jasmeet grows into Jazz, a bright, modern, and fashionable young woman who radiates confidence, charm, and independence, yet she wrestles with pride in her Indian heritage. The contrast between two worlds becomes a defining thread in her life as she navigates romance, family expectations, and cultural loyalties.

Her father sets up a meeting with Bobby Bedi [Ritesh Deshmukh], but the encounter ends poorly, and Bobby walks away. Manmohan concludes that finding an Indian son-in-law may be nearly impossible, a worry shared by his friend Parvez Khan [Javed Sheikh], whose son Imran [Upen Patel] also has a girlfriend, Susan [Tiffany Mulheron]. The families embark on a tour of India, and Jasmeet’s life takes another dramatic turn when her father forces her hand in an arranged marriage to Arjun Ballu Singh [Akshay Kumar], a man who does not speak English.

Back in London, Jazz surprises everyone by declaring she will marry an Englishman, Charlie Brown [Clive Standen], a well‑educated man with social connections, even with Prince Charles. She refuses to acknowledge the legality of her arranged marriage to Arjun, insisting that the union with Charlie is the real option. When Jazz meets Charlie’s friends, she endures racial comments that leave her offended and hurt. Arjun steps in to help, accompanying Jazz as she tries to explain India to Charlie’s family. He speaks in Hindi, and Jazz translates the exchange into English for those who do not understand the language.

Jazz becomes engaged to Charlie, a development that leaves Arjun despondent. He is seen leaving the scene in a bar, while Manmohan contemplates the odds and tries to understand Jazz’s choice. Arjun explains to Manmohan that Jazz has married Charlie, and he confesses the heartbreak of watching the woman he loves choose someone else. Yet Arjun also accepts Charlie’s challenge to a rugby match, despite not knowing the sport, signaling his willingness to prove himself in a new arena.

The rugby match brings a harsh clash of cultures as Charlie’s teammates mock Indians and Pakistanis who lack familiarity with the game. Exhausted by the exhausting efforts of rugby, Manmohan finally hands the ball to Arjun, who defeats the England team, earning Jazz’s admiration and respect. Meanwhile, Susan’s parents press Imran to abandon Islam and convert to Christianity, even suggesting names like Emmanuel or Ian and demanding paperwork to prove that his family does not support terrorism. Jazz seeks guidance from Arjun about her marriage, and their closeness intensifies as they share moments of vulnerability. At night, Arjun speaks with his family about London, his homesickness, and the ache of missing his parents, a confession that ends with tears.

Jazz offers comfort, and the two share a dance, with Arjun expressing a future where they might meet again in London when they are older. The subplot of Imran and Susan resolves positively when Imran chooses not to convert and Susan is accepted by his family, a small beacon of harmony amid the cross‑cultural tension.
