Monster High: Fright On! 2011

At Monster High’s Maul, the ghouls and the turtles eagerly await the premiere of the new Twiheart movie. They soon catch a flicker of a vampire–werewolf feud after watching Draculaura [Debi Derryberry] and Clawd Wolf [Ogie Banks] share a quick, curious moment—only to realize they were simply pointing at toilet paper stuck to Draculaura’s boot. The moment is light, but it foreshadows the tensions simmering beneath the surface of their school’s social world.

At school, the buzz intensifies as Headmistress Bloodgood [Laura Bailey] unveils a bold plan: Monster High will merge with Belfry Prep, an all-vampire academy, and Crescent Moon High, a school for werewolves. The goal is grand—to unite all monsters and, someday, human society too—but the idea unsettles some, especially Draculaura and Clawdeen, while Frankie Stein [Kate Higgins] sees real potential to make this work, especially with the Fear Squad serving as the welcoming committee. Abbey Bominable [Erin Fitzgerald], ever the organizer, helps set up a warm reception that might calm nerves, even as old loyalties threaten to flare up.

From the moment the merging announcement lands, Bram Devein [Yuri Lowenthal] and Gory Fangtell [Cindy Robinson], two vampires, along with Dougey, a werewolf, enter the scene, stirring old rivalries. Romulus [Cam Clarke], Clawd’s childhood friend, steps in to remind everyone to keep trouble in check on their first day at the new, bigger Monster High. The day proves bumpy: vampires and werewolves stake out territory, Cleo de Nile [Salli Saffioti] clashes with Gory as he pursues control of the fear squad, and Romulus learns with disappointment that Clawd has fallen for a vampire.

Frankie hatches a plan to bridge the divide through a dance that would bring both sides together. With her friends’ help, she perfects it by transforming Jackson Jekyll [Cindy Robinson] into Holt Hyde [Cindy Robinson] for the routine. But Administrator Van Hellscream [Cam Clarke], the Normie liaison head, barges in and derails the effort. He and Ms. Crabgrass [Wendee Lee], his monster assistant, seize control of Monster High, fueling hostilities under the pretense of keeping peace.

Clawdeen sees her family’s fractures widen as Howleen Wolf [America Young], Clawd’s younger sister, gets pulled into the feud. The two establish companion groups—Vampowerment and Were Pride—while Romulus quietly works behind the scenes, trying to steer Draculaura and Clawd away from a path that could ruin their budding relationship. Draculaura grows anxious about Romulus’s influence, worried he might become intolerant, and the pair grows distant.

Frankie begins to sense something darker at play and uncovers a troubling secret: Bloodgood has been turned to stone by Gorgon Dust and posed as the headmistress. Abbey and Lagoona Blue [Laura Bailey] believe her and work to uncover the truth. They discover that the remedy lies in a special powder and ally with Spectra Vondergeist [Erin Fitzgerald] and Lagoona to reverse the petrification. When they prepare to undo the curse, Howleen [America Young] and Draculaura intervene after receiving suspicious texts, a reminder that trust is fragile in this new, fragmented world.

Bloodgood is rescued, but Van Hellscream traps the group above a pit in the Catacombs, intending to eliminate the monster threat once and for all. He argues that monsters must be kept separate from Normies, a belief that drives his actions and fuels the looming gym showdown. As the midnight confrontation nears, vampires and werewolves suspect each other of kidnapping their friends, and the whole hall trembles with fear of a larger civil war.

Clawd and Clawdeen realize Frankie and Abbey are missing too, and Clawdeen comes to see Frankie’s plan in a new light after discovering Bloodgood’s missing statue. Abbey, meanwhile, rallies her allies—Operetta [Gigi Sarroino], Clawdeen, and Clawd—and together they escape the Catacombs. Howleen recognizes the error of her earlier judgments about vampires, especially after Draculaura steps in to shield her from a Gargoyle attack.

In a pivotal moment, Cleo de Nile [Salli Saffioti] apologizes for misjudging Ghoulia Yelps [Audu Paden], recognizing that the way she and others have treated the zombies echoes the old harm they once faced. Just before the gym fight begins, Howleen and Draculaura reveal that neither side kidnapped them, and Frankie delivers a powerful speech that unites everyone in the room.

As attendees flood the gym doors, Van Hellscream and Crabgrass try to flee, but Cleo de Nile calls on Deuce Gorgon [Yuri Lowenthal] to intervene, and he petrifies their plans. Romulus reconciles with Clawd, and Draculaura and Clawdeen start to rebuild their friendship as Howleen certain learns to respect her sister more; Cleo and Gory Fangtell forge a surprising, tentative friendship, and Gory begins to treat the zombies with dignity rather than contempt.

In the end, the peace holds, and the school begins to move forward with a renewed sense of unity. The journey is messy and imperfect, but the students of Monster High discover that cooperation and empathy can triumph over inherited labels, and that true strength lies in standing up for one another, even when the path is hard and the odds are stacked against them.
