Tod Spengo, backed by General Afir, overruns a backwater planet populated by idiots and renames it after himself. He mobilizes all resources to build a Super Death Ray Laser aimed at Earth. While peering at the laser's planned impact on a Southern California suburb, he spots Marge Nelson and becomes instantly infatuated.

Marge and Dick are kidnapped by Magnobeam

Spengo uses the Magnobeam to abduct Marge and her husband Dick as they travel for their 20th-anniversary weekend. The couple is torn from their ordinary life and whisked away to Spengo's world. The kidnapping marks the start of their forced separation and Spengo's courtship plans.

Marge sent to luxury; Dick imprisoned; Raff's plans revealed

The pair are separated: Marge is placed in the lap of luxury, while Dick is tossed into a dungeon. In his cell, Dick meets King Raff, the rightful ruler, who gives him plans for his son, the White Bird, leader of desert rebels. The exchange seeds hope for resistance against Spengo.

Sibor helps Dick escape during interrogation

After stealing an escape pod, Dick crash-lands in the desert and encounters rebels led by Prince Sirk and Princess Semage. Initially wary, the rebels accept him when he reveals he shared Raff's cell, and Dick quickly becomes their war leader. With limited resources, he begins planning a bold return to Spengo's fortress.

Plan for infiltrating the palace to rescue Marge

Dick formulates a daring plan to sneak back into Spengo's palace and rescue Marge. He rallies the rebels to improvise with whatever they can scrounge, coordinating a mission that hinges on stealth and timing. The operation blends cunning with the rebels' improvisational grit.

Afir sabotages the love serum; betrayal exposed

General Afir, sensing the end of Spengo's tyranny, believes Dick and Marge could tip the balance. He swaps the love serum meant for Marge with water and reveals his intentions to rescue Dick. Spengo overhears Afir's plan and has Afir sealed inside the Death Ray's barrel to die when the weapon is fired.

Desert camp sabotaged by a lethal prank grenade

While Afir is neutralized, a detachment of Spengo's soldiers heads into the desert to crush the rebels. They find the rebels' camp deserted and are picked off one by one by a light grenade left on Dick's pallet, an eerie and deadly trap. The rebels' whereabouts remain hidden as the siege advances.

Infiltration: rebels surge from the wooden Trojan bust

Dick and the rebels approach Spengo's fortress, hiding inside a giant wooden bust of Spengo. In the midst of the wedding ceremony, the rebels burst forth from the Trojan bust, triggering a climactic battle inside the palace. Spengo races to his laboratory to finish the weapon and Marge's fate hangs in the balance.

Final confrontation and Death Ray thwarted

Dick and Spengo clash with swords, neither gaining a clear upper hand. Marge frees herself and helps Dick shove Spengo into the sewers, where the Lub-Lubs corner him. At the last moment, Dick and Marge succeed in shutting down the Death Ray, saving Afir and Earth from annihilation.
