Imprisonment and coercion at the POW camp

Braddock and fellow US soldiers are held at a North Vietnamese POW camp run by Colonel Yin. Yin forces them to grow opium for a French drug runner named François and tries to extract confessions to a list of war crimes. The men live under brutal discipline as their captor presses for surrender and admissions.

Nester's alleged betrayal sparks distrust

Captain David Nester is convinced, perhaps by Yin, that the United States has abandoned them and becomes one of Yin's henchmen. His fellow soldiers denounce him as a traitor, fracturing the prisoners' unity. The camp atmosphere grows more paranoid as loyalty is tested.

Torture montage in the camp

The captors subject the prisoners to brutal humiliations and torture. Scenes include an unloaded pistol fired into Sergeant Opelka's head, forcing Braddock and Nester into a grueling fistfight, and Braddock being hung by his feet with a rat-filled bag over his head. The psychological strain intensifies as the captors threaten further abuse.

Braddock bargains for medicine

As Franklin suffers from malaria, Braddock concedes an admission of guilt to Yin's charges in exchange for vital medicine. The move is a desperate attempt to save a fellow prisoner and to secure some relief from the torture. The deal is fragile and contingent on Yin's honesty.

Yin breaks the deal and kills Franklin

Yin betrays the accord, giving Braddock an overdose of opium and later burning the sick soldier to death in front of him. The brutal betrayal shatters any remaining sense of trust and ignites Braddock's resolve. The scene marks a turning point toward Braddock's escape plan.

Braddock escapes to fight another day

Enraged by the massacre, Braddock escapes from the camp and begins plotting to free his fellow prisoners and destroy the facility. He starts to marshal the prisoners and locate weaknesses in Yin's control. The escape signals the shift from endurance to active resistance.

Yin betrays François and seizes control

Yin betrays François by taking his helicopter and uses it to search for Braddock. He also moves to seize control of François' drug ring, consolidating power and funding for his operations. The balance of power shifts as Yin expands his reach beyond the camp.

Braddock strikes back against Yin's men

Braddock mounts a counteroffensive, inflicting several losses on Yin's forces. His actions demonstrate tactical resolve as he targets the camp's defenses. Yin's grip on the camp begins to loosen as the escape plan gains momentum.

Decoy fails and Mazilli is taken hostage

Yin's second-in-command dresses a Vietnamese soldier as Yin, shoots him, and uses the ruse to lure Braddock into the open. Meanwhile, another POW named Anthony Mazilli is taken hostage to pressure Braddock into revealing his location. The deception tests Braddock's caution and resolve.

Nester sacrifices himself for Mazilli

Braddock notices the decoy isn't wearing Yin's boots, triggering suspicion. In a gunfight, Nester sacrifices himself to allow Mazilli to escape, buying crucial time for Braddock to focus on the objective. The act cements Nester's loyalty and Braddock's renewed determination.

Final hand-to-hand duel with Yin

Braddock confronts Yin in his quarters and defeats him in hand-to-hand combat. After subduing Yin, Braddock ensures the remaining prisoners can be evacuated. The climactic struggle marks the end of Yin's tyranny in the camp.
