This confession roils the already fragile trust between Alice and her husband, and when Adam returns from a police stop, he finds that Alice has left behind two photos, a trail of clues, and a question that leads toward the cabin—and toward the cemetery.

At the cemetery, Alice discovers a body buried in the earth, wearing the same necklace Deborah had given her. Deborah’s involvement becomes more chilling when she reveals older, deeper connections: Adele didn’t have to die if Adele had told her she was going back to her husband. The revelation is enough to unleash a dangerous confrontation: Deborah lashes out in an attempt to kill Alice, but Adam arrives in time to save her. Deborah then turns her anger toward Adam, but Alice intervenes and shoots her with a flare pistol, ending the immediate threat.

Adam explains that he and his sister used to come to the cabin together, and he had hoped that if Alice could simply trust him, their love would endure. After the confrontation, he is taken away by the police, leaving Alice to confront the emotional wreckage of the past and the price of trust.

Two years pass, and the film closes with a quiet, aching resonance.
