On the way to Paris, a freak accident sets Samantha’s private jet on fire, forcing an emergency landing in New Jersey, near Chris’s hometown. He brings Samantha to his mother’s house for shelter and, in the process, begins to confront the past he left behind.

Back in the small town, Jamie Palamino works as a bartender to pay for graduate school, and she meets up with Chris’s mother and his 18-year-old brother Mike, who is a big fan of Samantha.
