Mike Windgren, Elvis Presley, spends his days on a boat in sunlit Acapulco, Mexico. When Janie Harkins, Teri Hope, the boat owner’s bratty daughter, gets him fired, Mike must find new work.

With the help of Raoul Almeido, Larry Domasin, a Mexican boy, he lands a gig as a lifeguard and singer at a local hotel. Clashes abound when he runs into a rival lifeguard who is Mexico’s champion diver, furious over lost hours and the theft of his woman.

Mike is grappling with post-traumatic stress and a fear of heights, stemming from a tragic high-wire accident that ended his circus career. Yet, after watching the rival perform a series of dangerous dives—flicks and a head-first plunge into a pool ringed by fire—he decides to challenge him and set himself up for a death-defying moment.
