Easy Money 2012

Three years into his prison sentence for drug trafficking, JW, portrayed by Joel Kinnaman, is finally granted parole. Upon his release, he discovers that his parents and former girlfriend, Sophie, have severed ties with him, leaving him feeling isolated. However, he unexpectedly forms a deep bond with Mrado, a once formidable figure who is now paraplegic due to a violent past. In a bid for redemption and prosperity, JW devises a plan to capitalize on a software application he developed during his incarceration. Yet, his ambitions are thwarted by betrayal when his former classmate and business partner, Nippe, seizes control of the project, taking full credit for JW’s work.

In a moment of desperation, JW confronts Nippe in a fit of rage. Seeking guidance and support, he reaches out to Mrado, who proposes a daring scheme that could lead them to wealth. Their target is Misha Bladman, the accountant serving the Serbian mob boss Radovan. The plan involves abducting Bladman and extracting information about the substantial amount of money he manages. Fueled by the desire for revenge and a better life, JW agrees to assist Mrado in escaping from prison to carry out this devious plot.

Meanwhile, Jorge, another key figure in this tangled narrative, enters a precarious agreement to supply drugs to Serbian gangsters. However, things go awry when he loses the drugs in a car accident. Escalating tensions arise when his attempt to steal back the mob’s money fails miserably. In a twist of fate, Jorge is rescued by Nadja, a sex slave, and together they manage to escape with the stolen money after a violent confrontation that leaves the mobsters dead.

Tracking Jorge becomes a task for Mahmoud, who is both Jorge’s childhood friend and JW’s former co-worker. To clear his debts to the mob, Mahmoud reluctantly goes in pursuit of Jorge. His search leads him to Jorge’s recently deceased mother Rosita’s home, where he inadvertently shoots Nadja when she answers the door. In the chaos, Jorge leaps from a balcony in a desperate bid for freedom, leaving Mahmoud to believe that Jorge has met his demise while he retrieves the stolen cash. Impressed by Mahmoud’s initiative, Radovan assigns him and his accomplice, Ratko, the duty to deliver the recovered money to Bladman.

As fate intertwines their paths, JW and Mrado put their plan into action. They confront Bladman and begin to extract information regarding the safe’s combination through intimidation. Just as JW enters Bladman’s house to carry out their operation, Mahmoud and Ratko arrive at the scene. In a tragic turn of events, JW recognizes Mahmoud too late and shoots him dead, unaware that he has killed a former ally. The violence escalates further when JW and Mrado kill Ratko as well, securing the money in the process. However, chaos reigns when Mrado is seriously injured in the crossfire.

Knowing that his time is running out, Mrado makes a poignant request of JW: to deliver a note to his daughter, Lovisa. Sadly, JW finds himself unable to fulfill this promise due to Lovisa’s transfer from her foster home. In an emotional moment, Mrado hallucinates a reunion with his daughter as he slips away.

In the aftermath of this violent encounter, Jorge and Nadja survive their injuries and receive urgent medical attention. As they are transported to safety in an ambulance, JW reflects on the note he intends to send to Lovisa, an echo of hope amidst the chaos. He then incinerates the vehicle containing Mrado’s body, leaving a trail of destruction behind him as he walks away with the ill-gotten money.
