Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror 1998

A group of teenagers find themselves stranded in mid-America and stumble into Divinity Falls, a quiet town where a disturbing routine has taken hold: forgotten children act as caretakers for a harsh doctrine led by Luke Enright, who believes he is the savior of the kids and the earthly representative of He Who Walks Behind the Rows. The teenagers, led by Allison, have less than a week to get out, but their car is ruined, trapping them in a place where the local children hold all the power.

As the group pieces together what’s really going on, Luke Enright is revealed to be the man behind the town’s strange order, and Allison discovers her own brother is among the children. The truth drives Allison and the others toward Luke’s farm, hoping to uncover the truth and break free from the town’s grip. On the way, they meet the outsiders who have become absorbed into the town’s rites, including Kir, who has decided to join the cult after glimpsing a troubling bible of their beliefs, and Jacob, who reveals he is engaged to Lily and that she carries his child.

At the farm, trouble erupts almost immediately. [Jacob] is chosen to perform the annual sacrifice ceremony but refuses, insisting that the town’s religion is a lie. The others watch as Ezekiel holds the ritual, and tensions rise as the cult demands the life of a child reaching adulthood. In a drastic turn, Kir volunteers to become part of the cult after a quick study of their “Bible,” choosing her own deadly fate to climb the flaming silo and leap into the fire that the town believes houses their god.

The group’s attempts to leave are complicated by loyalties and fear, but Allison refuses to abandon [Jacob], and she enlists the help of the local authorities to confront Luke and Ezekiel. Greg, who has developed a crush on Allison, decides to stand with them and the others begin to head out, hoping to bring the town’s terror to an end. A tense confrontation unfolds as the sheriff responds to the escalating danger; Sheriff Skaggs and the fire department move to extinguish the growing blaze around the silo, but the flames seem almost alive.

In a shocking turn, Luke’s facade begins to crack. He kills the sheriff, and it becomes clear that Luke had effectively been dead for years, revealed to have never truly been in control of the town at all. Ezekiel then materializes as the true driving force and leader for the children, and a brutal battle erupts between Allison’s group and the cult’s followers. The fight is fierce and costly, and the night ends with the collapse of the town’s control.

Allison survives the onslaught and tracks down her brother during the chaos, learning the key to finally stopping He Who Walks Behind the Rows. A desperate struggle with Ezekiel ends when Allison pushes him into the silo, where he meets a violent, fiery end. She then uses fertilizer to fuel a final explosion that destroys the silo and extinguishes the god’s influence once and for all.

The immediate aftermath centers on Lily and her baby. Lily’s Mother and Father remind Allison that Lily isn’t ready to raise a child, and Lily herself decides that adoption is the best option. With the danger behind them, Allison returns to Lily’s home, where the adults acknowledge the difficult choices ahead. Lily agrees that adoption is a caring path, affirming a future for the newborn away from Divinity Falls. The film closes on a quiet, hopeful note: the baby is seen being comforted as the silo’s ominous green-orange glow lingers in the background, a visual reminder of the town’s once-feared power and the lives saved from its reach.
