Vijju, played by Amitabh Bachchan, is a seasoned hit-man who has just returned to Mumbai after a long exile in Paris, France. He is known for his formidable skills and no-nonsense attitude, despite his age, which many dismiss as a sign of his decline; however, Vijju’s reputation as the best of the best remains unchallenged. His return to the city is driven by a final mission, one that is deeply personal and intertwined with his past.

The city is reeling from a series of devastating bomb blasts, which have been traced back to powerful mafia gangs operating in the shadows of Mumbai. In response, ACP Karan Malhotra, portrayed by Sonu Sood, vows to purify the city by eliminating all gangsters within two months. His aggressive crackdown leads him to arrest one individual directly linked to gangster Kabir, played by Prakash Raj, who is the mastermind behind the recent explosions. Karan’s determination makes him a target for Kabir, who, recognizing Vijju’s legendary reputation, decides to hire him to take out Karan instead of confronting him directly.

Kabir, a ruthless mafia boss, orders his henchman Anju, played by Shawar Ali, to bring in the best assassin to eliminate Karan, someone with an impeccable track record but no previous criminal record. Vijju, with his disdain for being considered “old,” accepts this dangerous job. As he immerses himself back into the Mumbai underworld, Vijju connects with his old friend Mirchi Baba and gains access to weapons and information about Karan. While tentatively tracking Karan’s movements and even taking shots at him—one of which only shatters the glass of Karan’s jeep—Vijju’s actions become increasingly aggressive, including planting a low-intensity explosive on Karan’s vehicle, which detonates, forcing Karan to become more cautious and alert.

Meanwhile, Karan is shown to have a personal life that includes his interactions with his old college friend Tanya, played by Sonal Chauhan. Tanya had previously lodged complaints about Karan, but their chemistry reignites when they meet again at the police station, revealing unspoken feelings. Tanya lives with her father, Prem Nath, and her relationship with Karan adds a layer of emotional complexity to the story. Amrita, played by Charmy Kaur, a friend of Tanya, is curious about Vijju’s connection to her mother Kamini, portrayed by Raveena Tandon. Kamini is now married, but her past relationship with Vijju is hinted to have been more than a mere friendship—possibly an affair many years ago.

As Vijju continues to protect Karan from assassins, he ultimately reveals that he is not the contract killer hired for Karan but rather his father, trying to shield his son from the true threat—Kabir. In a tense moment, Vijju kills the real assassin who was sent to eliminate Karan, saving him and his mother Sita from certain death. This revelation shocks everyone, especially when Vijju admits that his motive is rooted in protecting Karan from the mafia’s relentless pursuit of power and revenge.

The story further explores Vijju’s complicated past, revealing that he was married to Kamini, and that he had a son, Karan, whom he was forced to leave behind after being imprisoned for two years. Vijju confesses to Kamini that he did not have an affair with her but was caught with her during his time in jail, which led to their separation. His connection to Amrita, who might be his illegitimate daughter, is also implied, adding depth to his character. Vijju’s ultimate goal is to save Karan from the clutches of Kabir and his men, while also dealing with his own troubled past and estranged family relationships.

As the conflict intensifies, Vijju climbs deeper into the underworld, approaching Mac, played by Makrand Deshpande, to join forces against Kabir. However, one of Kabir’s men, Tedha, played by Subbaraju, betrays the gang and attempts to shoot Karan, narrowly missing and leading to a fierce police raid. Vijju intervenes, confronting the gangsters and disarming their threats. The climax culminates in a dramatic shoot-out at Kabir’s hideout, where Vijju, after reciting a brief story filled with morals, reveals Karan is alive and the gang’s den is surrounded by police—an undercover operation fueling the chaos.

In this final confrontation, Vijju faces off against Kabir and Mac. During the chaos, Tedha is killed by Kabir, realizing too late that Vijju was not an undercover officer but Karan’s father. Vijju later kills Kabir and spares Mac, trusting him to come clean. Following a fierce gunfight, Vijju ensures Karan’s safety but suffers a profound loss and emerges as a hero with scars from his past. He then visits his estranged wife Sita, contemplating whether to reveal his true identity to Karan, but ultimately respecting her wishes to keep his secret.

In the closing moments, Vijju prepares to return to Paris, promising that he will always be there if his wife or son needs him. He tells Sita that if he doesn’t return, it means he has passed away, given his age and the dangers he faces. She asks him to stay silent about his identity, and Vijju agrees, leaving the door open for reunion when the time is right, with the hope that Karan someday will learn the truth about his father. The story highlights themes of redemption, family bonds, and the sacrifices made in the face of ruthless crime and personal pasts.
