Yvette Nicole Brown (born August 12, 1971) in East Cleveland, Ohio emerged from a modest Midwestern upbringing to become one of television’s most recognizable character actresses. After graduating from Warrensville Heights High School in 1989, she earned a B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of Akron in 1994, where she was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Delta Kappa honor society and joined Alpha Kappa Alpha.
