Timothy Key, born on 2 September 1976, is an English poet, comedian, actor, and screenwriter who has established an extensive career since 2001. Making his mark in the entertainment industry, he rose to fame for both his solo acts and performances as part of the comedy group, Cowards. His unique talents and creative flair saw him win the Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2009, and also led to a nomination for the Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality. His first appearance was in the stage production Far Too Happy in 2001. The show was really appreciated at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe where it was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer. With multiple appearances on the BBC Radio 4 since 2006, Key released his first album in 2010, amusingly entitled Tim Key. With a String Quartet. On a Boat. In his television career, he first appeared on television in a comic role in a satirical comedy Time Trumpet in 2006, mostly noted for his appearances as 'Sidekick Simon' beside Alan Partridge. He also played characters in Gap Year, Plebs, Life's Too Short, Peep Show and many others. He has penned six books, with his first one being published in 2009. Lastly, in film, Key surprised us with his portrayal of Santa Claus in a black comedy named Anthony.
