Terry Notary: Movies & Box Office

Terry Notary, born August 14, 1968, is an accomplished American actor, stunt co-ordinator/double, and movement coach. Known predominantly for portraying creatures and animals in the film and television industry, his remarkable prowess in motion capture performances has earned him a respectable spot in films like Avatar, The Adventures of Tintin: Secrets of the Unicorn, the Planet of the Apes reboot series, The Hobbit trilogy, and Kong: Skull Island. In addition, Notary significantly contributed to the Marvel Studios films Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame through his portrayal of the character Cull Obsidian.

Terry Notary was born in San Rafael, California and had an active childhood, being diagnosed as severely hyperactive at age 7. This led to his enrollment in gymnastics to manage his energy levels. Further on, he secured a gymnastics scholarship at UCLA where he graduated with a major in theatre. Following graduation, Notrory's career initially started with Cirque du Soleil as a performer. His big break into being a stunt movement coach occurred on Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. After impressing Director Ron Howard, Notary honed his professional development further in Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes, for which he prepared by studying ape movements at the LA County Zoo. His movement coaching in Avatar marked his entry into motion capture film. Notary continues to impress with his various performances across film and television.
