Takehiro Hira (born July 27, 1974) is a distinguished Japanese actor renowned for his versatility across theatre, film, and television. He was born in Setagaya, Tokyo, to celebrated performers Mikijirō Hira and Yoshiko Sakuma, and spent his early childhood immersed in Japan’s rich performing‑arts culture before moving to the United States at age fifteen. Hira completed his secondary education at the Moses Brown School in Providence, Rhode Island, and later earned a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University, an experience that broadened his artistic perspective and language skills. Returning to Japan, he made his theatrical debut in 2002 with Rokumeikan, a play by Yukio Mishima, quickly establishing himself as a compelling stage presence.
