Taissa Farmiga (born August 17, 1994) is an American actress renowned for her versatility across horror, drama, and comedy genres. Born in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, she is the youngest of seven children of Ukrainian immigrants Lubomyra and Michael Farmiga, and she grew up in a household steeped in both Pentecostal faith and Ukrainian culture. Encouraged by her sister, Academy‑Award‑nominated actress Vera Farmiga, Taissa made her onscreen debut in Vera’s directorial debut Higher Ground (2011), a performance that earned her early critical praise and a contract with ICM Partners. She quickly became a cult favorite after starring as Violet Harmon in the inaugural season of American Horror Story: Murder House (2011), a role she revisited in later seasons, cementing her status as a modern “scream queen”. Over the next few years she balanced television work with film roles such as Sam Moore in The Bling Ring (2013), Anna Greene in Mindscape (2013), and the titular “final girl” Max Cartwright in the horror‑comedy The Final Girls (2015), which showcased her capacity for both horror intensity and comedic timing.
