Andrés Arturo García Menéndez, professionally known as Andy García, is a highly renowned American actor, director, and producer. Born in Havana, Cuba, on April 12, 1956, García relocated to the United States following the 1961 Bay of Pigs Invasion. He started his acting career at Florida International University before transitioning to Hollywood. His first notable role was in Brian De Palma's The Untouchables (1987), where he starred alongside Kevin Costner, Sean Connery, and Robert De Niro. He earned an Academy Award nomination for The Godfather Part III (1990). Throughout the following years, he had success with a string of Hollywood films and even made his mark on television.

Garcia continued to act in Hollywood films such as Stephen Frears' Hero (1992), the romantic drama When a Man Loves a Woman (1994), and the action thriller Desperate Measures (1998). In 2000, he produced and starred in the HBO television film, For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story (2000), which earned him Primetime Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award nominations. Garcia also starred in the highly successful Ocean's Eleven and its sequels. In 2005, he directed and starred in the film The Lost City alongside Dustin Hoffman and Bill Murray, following which he took on various roles in different genres. He won both a Grammy and a Latin Grammy Award for producing Cuban musician Cachao's record ¡Ahora Sí! in 2005. In his personal life, Garcia has been vocal about his criticisms of the Castro regime in Cuba, and is a naturalized citizen of the United States.
