Sean Patrick Thomas is a deeply respected American actor, born in Washington, D.C., and known for his outstanding performance in a vast variety of roles. He gained most attention for his portrayal as Derek Reynolds in the 2001 blockbuster 'Save the Last Dance' and his recurring roles in the ever-popular Barbershop series. As a television personality, he has proven his versatility with notable roles such as Detective Temple Page in The District and Professor Macalester in Vixen from 2015 to 2016. Born to immigrant parents from Guyana, he grew up in Wilmington, Delaware, pursued BA at the University of Virginia, and later decided to chase his passion for acting, obtaining an MFA from New York University's prestigious Graduate Acting Program. His acting journey started in the mid-1990s, entertaining audiences with minor roles in several movies and then gradually achieving prominence with leading roles, especially the teen romance movie 'Save the Last Dance', which performed exceptionally, grossing over $90 million domestically. He delivered credible performances in 'Barbershop' and 'Halloween: Resurrection'. His television journey started with 'The District', a crime drama aired on CBS, running from 2000 to 2004, where Thomas was a cast member.
