Sarah Miles, born on the 31st of December 1941, is a now retired English actress. She is recognized for her roles in well-known films such as The Servant (1963), Blowup (1966), Ryan's Daughter (1970), The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing (1973), White Mischief (1987) and Hope and Glory (1987). Her outstanding performance in Ryan's Daughter led her to receive a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. Born in Ingatestone, Essex, England; her brother was film director, producer, and screenwriter Christopher Miles. Sarah struggled with a speech delay up until the age of nine due to severe stammer and dyslexia. She attended Roedean and three other schools but was expelled from all of them. At the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), she finally found her footing, graduating in 1960 with an Acting (RADA Diploma). Her life took a significant turn when her performance skills were recognized and she was given roles in various films and plays. She got her first acting gig shortly after her graduation, in an episode of the TV series Deadline Midnight titled 'Manhunt'. Her film debut was in Term of Trial (1962), which resulted in her being nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Newcomer. Miles even graced the small screen, starring in several TV films. Her life took a tragic turn when her lover was found dead in her motel room. Miles was married twice to British playwright Robert Bolt and the couple had a son. Interesting fact about Sarah Miles is her claim of having been drinking her own urine for 30 years for health reasons.
