Paul Ford Weaver, known professionally as Paul Ford, was born on November 2, 1901 and gained prominence as an American character actor and comedic actor specializing in portraying authority figures for comic effect. Ford had his breakthrough moment in 1957 as Mayor George Shinn in the Broadway musical comedy play, which was later adapted into a movie in 1962. He also gained recognition on television with his performance as U.S. Army Colonel John T. Hall on The Phil Silvers Show. His career in entertainment only began after his success with a puppet theater project sponsored by the New Deal program during the Great Depression. Ford made a name for himself with his distinctive voice, making it one of the most recognized in cinema and television at the time. Even though he achieved success later in life and had a hard time remembering his lines, he still managed to leave a significant impact with his performances. He retired in the early 1970s before passing away on April 12, 1976. Ford was a respected stage actor in the 1940s and early 1950s.
