Norman Nathan Lloyd, born as Norman Nathan Perlmutter on November 8, 1914, was an American actor, producer, director, and centenarian with a career spanning nearly a century. He gained renowned for his versatility, working in theatre, radio, television, and film from 1923 up to 2020. Notably, Lloyd's final film, Trainwreck, was released in 2015 when he was 100, making him the longest-lived male actor from Classic Hollywood. He also played significant roles in the 1980s medical drama, St. Elsewhere, as Dr. Daniel Auschlander, among other roles in over 60 films and television shows. In the 1930s, Lloyd was an apprentice in Eva Le Gallienne's Civic Repertory Theatre and worked with influential groups like the Federal Theatre Project's Living Newspaper unit, the Mercury Theatre, and the Group Theatre. His professional association with Alfred Hitchcock began with his role in the film Saboteur (1942). Lloyd's influence in the industry wasn't limited to his acting prowess. He was also a television director and producer throughout the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.
