Milton Selzer (October 25, 1918 – October 21, 2006) was an American character actor whose career spanned four decades across stage, film, and television. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, he spent his early childhood in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where his family relocated and where he later attended Portsmouth High School. After graduating, Selzer enrolled at the University of New Hampshire, but his studies were interrupted by service in World II, an experience that deepened his resolve to pursue acting after the war. Returning to civilian life, he began with modest roles on Broadway, appearing in productions such as Arms and the Man (1950) and Julius Caesar (1950), and quickly earned a reputation for his meticulous preparation and distinctive screen presence.

In 1960 Selzer moved to Hollywood, where he became a prolific character actor, frequently cast as gruff authority figures, nervous academics, or morally ambiguous businessmen. His versatility shone in television classics, from the unsettling alien in “Hocus‑Pocus and Frisby” on The Twilight Zone to the miserly son‑in‑law in “The Masks”. He delivered memorable performances as Dr. Aaron Stuart in Perry Mason (1963) and as Dr. Max Taylor in the series’ 1964 episode “The Case of the Bullied Bowler”. Over the 1960s and 1970s he appeared on Get Smart, That Girl, The Rat Patrol, Hogan’s Heroes, and was a regular on the 1973 sitcom Needles and Pins as Julius Singer. Selzer’s film work included roles in The Young Savages (1961) opposite Burt Lancaster, A Big Hand for the Little Lady (1966), and the cult classic Sid and Nancy (1986). His final on‑screen appearance was in the 1995 television film Cagney & Lacey: Together Again, concluding a distinguished career that left an indelible mark on American entertainment.
