Mahiro Takasugi (高杉 真宙) is a Japanese actor whose career began serendipitously when he was discovered at a fireworks display in Kumamoto Prefecture. Born on July 4, 1996, in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, he is the eldest of three brothers and originally dreamed of becoming a kindergarten teacher because of his love for children. His shy personality contrasts with his on‑stage confidence, a duality that has helped him portray a wide range of characters. After being scouted, he made his stage debut in Every Little Thing ’09 in 2009, and the following year transitioned to film with his first cinematic appearance in Hanjiro.
