Luc Jacquet, born 5 December 1967, is a renowned French film director and screenwriter. His significant contribution to the film industry began in 1993 and has continued till date. He is predominantly known for writing and directing the award-winning film March of the Penguins. This film, appreciated for its captivating storytelling and stunning cinematography, secured an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature in 2005, enhancing Jacquet’s reputation in the film fraternity. The film also received a nomination for the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Documentary Screenplay, adding yet another feather to Jacquet’s hat. Apart from March of the Penguins, Jacquet has also directed The Fox and the Child, which was released in Britain and Ireland in a slightly re-edited dubbed English-language version with narration by the acclaimed actress Kate Winslet. The film was later released in the United States on 29 February 2008. In 2015, Jacquet once again proved his mettle by releasing the film Ice and the Sky. The film was selected to close the esteemed 2015 Cannes Film Festival, thereby earning Jacquet immense praise and recognition.
