Born to director Philippe Garrel and actress Brigitte Sy, he bears the legacy of his grandfather, Maurice Garrel, a notable French actor. His acting career began as a child, making his screen debut at the age of six in the film Les Baisers de secours. His big break came in 2002 when he played the twin brother of Eva Green in The Dreamers. His performance in Les Amants réguliers earned him the César Award for Most Promising Actor. Besides acting, he ventured into direction, creating short films like Mes copains and Petit Tailleur. His directional debut Two Friends was released in 2015, where he starred alongside Golshifteh Farahani, Vincent Macaigne.
