Ljubomir “Ljuba” Tadić (31 May 1929 – 28 October 2005) was a renowned Yugoslav and Serbian actor whose career spanned more than five decades, making him one of the most influential figures in the cinematic history of the former Yugoslavia. Born in Uroševac, in the then Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, Tadić grew up during a turbulent period marked by World War II and the subsequent formation of socialist Yugoslavia, experiences that later informed the gravitas of his on‑screen performances. He made his screen debut in 1953, but it was his 1957 role in Nije bilo uzalud that first revealed his talent for portraying complex villains, a niche he would masterfully inhabit throughout his early career. Marš na Drinu (1964) cemented his reputation when he delivered the first recorded obscenity in Yugoslav cinema, a bold choice that highlighted his willingness to push artistic boundaries. Over the next three decades Tadić repeatedly embodied larger‑than‑life historical figures, most notably Major Kursula in Marš na Drinu and Dr. Mladen Stojanović in the eponymous 1975 biopic, performances that earned him multiple Big Golden Arena awards for Best Actor.
