Keir David Peters Gilchrist is a multitalented Canadian actor, known predominantly for his roles in a variety of television programs and films. He was born on 28 September 1992 in Camden, London, England, to Canadian parents Catherine (née Peters) and Ian Gilchrist. Gilchrist spent his early life initially in London, then migrated to Boston, Massachusetts during his childhood and subsequently to New York City, settling down ultimately in Toronto, Ontario. His maternal grandfather was the renowned banker, economist, and politician Douglas Peters, and his uncle is economist David Wilfrid Peters.

Starting his acting career in 2003, Gilchrist has gone on to portray a variety of characters across multiple genres. His first significant television role was of Josh McKellar on Fox's television sitcom The Winner in 2007. He gained plenty of recognition during 2009-2011 for his remarkable portrayal of the character Marshall Gregson on the Showtime comedy-drama United States of Tara. Moreover, he headlined the Netflix comedy-drama Atypical (2017–2021) as Sam Gardner, a teen on the autism spectrum. His most notable film roles include a comedy-drama It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010), the supernatural horror It Follows (2014), Dark Summer, The Stanford Prison Experiment, and Len and Company among others. In addition to his acting pursuits, Gilchrist also pursues music and is the vocalist of grindcore band Whelm and death metal band Phalanx.
