Eric Clapton, born as Eric Patrick Clapton on 30 March 1945, is an accomplished musician and song-writer known for his contribution to rock and blues genres. Clapton is frequently considered one of the most influential and successful guitarists of all time. His music legacy was ratified with his name being featured in Rolling Stone's '100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time', Gibson's 'Top 50 Guitarists of All Time', and Time magazine's 'The 10 Best Electric Guitar Players'. Clapton assembled a series of bands including The Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, and the power trio Cream, before eventually pursuing a solo career, momentarily formed a blues rock band Blind Faith and Derek and the Dominos. Over the decades of his career, Clapton had a series of successful albums and well-known songs including the touching 'Tears in Heaven' following the tragic death of his son. He had earned 18 Grammy Awards and in 2004, was rewarded with CBE for his contribution to music. He was the only multiple-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: once for his solo endeavor, followed by separate inductions for the Yardbirds and Cream.
