Edward John David Redmayne, also known as Eddie Redmayne, is a distinguished British actor who has received various accolades, including an Academy Award, a Tony Award, a BAFTA Award, and two Olivier Awards. His acting career started in West End theatre with notable roles in 'The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?' and 'Richard II'. His acting prowess was further highlighted with his Broadway debut in 'Red', which earned him a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play. He returned to Broadway in 2024, earning a nomination for the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. His success also translated to films, with his leading role in 'Like Minds' (2006) and breakthrough roles in 'My Week with Marilyn' (2011) and 'Les Misérables' (2012). Redmayne won the Academy Award for Best Actor for portraying physicist Stephen Hawking in 'The Theory of Everything' (2014) and earned another nomination for the portrayal of transgender artist Lili Elbe in 'The Danish Girl' (2015). He starred as Newt Scamander in the 'Fantastic Beasts' film series from 2016 to 2022, and also portrayed key characters in 'The Trial of the Chicago 7' (2020), 'The Good Nurse' (2022), and television series 'The Day of the Jackal' (2024). His love for acting and singing was discovered at the Jackie Palmer Stage School which he attended from the age of 10. His academic journey took him to Eaton House, St Paul's Juniors, Eton College, and finally to Trinity College, Cambridge where he read History of Art.

Furthermore, his role as Newt Scamander in 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' was well-received by fans and critics alike. Redmayne managed to bring a unique charm to this role, helping the movie become a critical and commercial success. He continued impressing critics with his performance in 'The Trial of the Chicago 7' earning a Screen Actors Guild Award. His portrayal of notorious serial killer Charles Cullen in 'The Good Nurse' was described as 'eerie, pitch-perfect' by Leah Greenblatt at Entertainment Weekly.
