Domhnall Gleeson (/ˈdoʊnəl/; born 12 May 1983) is an acclaimed Irish actor and screenwriter. He first gained prominence for his Tony Award-nominated role in the Broadway production The Lieutenant of Inishmore in 2006, and a supporting role in Never Let Me Go. His global recognition grew with his portrayal of Bill Weasley in the last two entries of the Harry Potter film series (2010–2011), and his role in About Time (2013). He also gained acclaim for his performance in the fact-based war drama Unbroken (2014). Over the years, Gleeson has proved his acting prowess in several Academy Award-nominated films such as Ex Machina (2014), Brooklyn (2015), and The Revenant (2015), and as General Hux in the Star Wars sequel trilogy (2015–2019). Following a successful film career, Gleeson pivoted into television roles in the 2020s, starring in the HBO black comedy series Run, the satirical miniseries White House Plumbers, and the psychological thriller The Patient, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination.

Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, Gleeson made his acting debut in the British television miniseries Rebel Heart in 2001. He made his film debut in Martin McDonagh's short film Six Shooter in 2004. Gleeson's career received a significant boost in 2010 with his roles in the dystopian drama Never Let Me Go and Harry Potter. His portrayal of Bill Weasley exposed him to a wider audience. Future roles in True Grit, Shadow Dancer, Black Mirror, Frank, Calvary, Unbroken, and ex-Machina substantiated Gleeson's versatility as an actor. His career in the 2020s saw him in roles ranging from a hitman for the Irish Mob in The Kitchen to Thomas McGregor in Peter Rabbit.
