Paul David Hewson (born 10 May 1960), known by his stage name Bono, is an internationally acclaimed Irish singer-songwriter, activist, and businessman. He is best known as the lead vocalist and primary lyricist of the rock band U2. A native of Dublin, Ireland, Bono attended Mount Temple Comprehensive School where he met his future wife, Alison Stewart, and began his musical journey. He rose to prominence in 1976 as the frontman for U2, and his passionate vocal style and songwriting have contributed significantly to the band's success and longevity. Bono's songwriting often includes social and political themes, with his lyrics frequently harnessing religious imagery inspired by his Christian beliefs.

Alongside his music, Bono has been recognized worldwide for his activism and humanitarian work. He is particularly recognized for his tireless campaigning to fight extreme poverty and HIV/AIDS in Africa, co-founding organizations such as DATA, EDUN, the ONE Campaign, and Product Red.
