Ayumu Murase (村瀬 歩, Murase Ayumu; born December 14, 1988) is a Japanese voice actor known for his energetic performances and versatile vocal range. Although he was born in Los Angeles, California, Murase spent his childhood in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, where he attended school up to high‑school graduation before moving to Kyoto for university studies. His early fascination with theatre led him to enroll in the Japan Narration Actors Institute, where he honed his craft and prepared for a professional career in voice acting. Murase made his debut in 2011 with a minor role as a male student in Persona 4: The Animation, and quickly rose to prominence the following year when he landed his first major character, Shun Aonuma in the critically acclaimed series From the New World. His breakthrough came in 2014 when he was cast as Shōyō Hinata in the popular sports anime Haikyu!!, a role that showcased his ability to convey youthful determination and earned him a dedicated fanbase. In recognition of his talent, Murase received the Seiyu Award for Best Male Rookie in 2016, cementing his status as one of the leading voices of his generation. Over the years he has voiced a wide array of characters across television, film, and games, including Kyōsuke Yaguchi in Yarichin Bitch Club, Kuromaru in Sword Gai: The Animation, and the whimsical spirit Venti in the global hit Genshin Impact.
