Wintour also serves as the global chief content officer of Condé Nast since 2020, where she presides over all Condé Nast publications worldwide, while concurrently serving as an artistic director. Known for her discerning fashion sense, her pageboy bob haircut, and dark sunglasses, Wintour has emerged as a significant figure in the world of fashion, notably serving as the lead chairperson of the prestigious annual Met Gala in Manhattan. Despite facing criticisms for her reported aloof personality and use of fur in fashion which has drawn the ire of animal rights organizations, Wintour continues to shape the global fashion industry with her keen fashion insights and editorial decisions at Vogue.

Wintour's career in fashion journalism began in British magazines and evolved as she moved to the United States.
